One of the great things about working for a company that makes game consoles as well as has it's own games development studio is that despite the usual day to day activities the company is keen for you to play these games and subsequently tell everyone else about them. Monday for example was games day in the atrium. The XBox crowd had setup a load of consoles and large plasma screens and let us play all the latest titles. There was even a prize (guess what it was) to the person had the quickest lap time in Project Gotham Racing 2 around the streets of Edinburgh. Other notables included Top Spin a rather excellent tennis game and Crimson Skies: The High Road to Revenge a sort of odd-looking-planes-meets-Indiana-Jones adventure game, difficult to explain unless you see it. All of these are also XBox Live! enabled, which against all expectations has passed the half million subscriber mark. Maybe more companies should adopt this kind of practice...rather than, dare I say it, treating them like disposable commodities.
